Never trust the rating provided by the manufacturer. On a very old tank of mine, a 30 gallon, I ran a Prizm and I would have just considered it "adequate". The newer models are probably a bit better, but I wouldn't consider it suitable for anything larger than a 55, less if the tank is heavily stocked.
Better recommendations could be provided if you filled out your member profile and provided detailed info on your tank.

If space is an issue, but not limited by price then checkout the deltec MCE skimmers, there a little on the expensive side, but will be a good investment in the long run.
The Red Sea Prism skimmer are poor skimmers, and you will only end up upgrading at some point. |

Agree with both responses above. I used a Prism years ago and it was awful. I ended up buying a Remora. Deltec MCE=excellent skimmer but very pricey.

I've had two and they did very little except make me think I had a skimmer and cause a good deal of work. They sit on a dusty shelf now and work fine there.

Sorry guys,
I have had one since they were new and it works just fine. I usually get a pretty consistent bunch of crud out of it. Then again it is the only one I have ever had so I have nothing to compare it too.

I have a lightly-stocked 29 gallon reef tank, and the Prizm skimmer is working fine for me. I do agree with the other posters that it would not be ideal for a large, or heavily-populated tank.
