Reef Octopus Extreme 160 vs Reef Octopus Extreme 200 Protein Skimmer

Reef Octopus Extreme 160 vs Reef Octopus Extreme 200 Protein Skimmer

which one is better for my tank, I have the following

Here is what I have now, a 75gal tank, with a 15 gallon sump, coralife pro metal halide / power compact light. About 10-15 fish, rock and live sand, some sps and 2 power heads. If I am leaving something out just ask.

some people are saying that
"it blows when you get an oversized skimmer cause once it catches up there isn't enough load for them to work"

They both use the same sicce pump, impellers and venturi. The only difference is the footprint and body size. If you have the room I would go with the 200 as there is less restriction on the pump (better performance) and easier to do maintenance.

Not at all. The 160 really is not for smaller tanks but more for smaller/restricted sumps. Yes, you will gain performance with the 200 over the 160 but not at all to the extent of being over sized. In reality the only real difference is the footprint and the bodies water volume.

I set my 200 extreme up yesterday and so far so good. I added some skimmate from my other skimmer to the tank witht the 200 and it skimmed it right up.
PW only pulling 18scfh.
What numbers are others getting with the PWs>?

PW=pinwheel impeller.
Scfh in standard cubic feet hour( i think), this is a unit of measuring how much air a pump is pulling through it's venturi.
I use a dwyer meter.

Where there's a will, there's a way(corny but I couldn't resist).

Are bubbles coming out of your skimmer, then into your sump, and then into your tank?

Do you have pics of you setup?

Is your sump divided into sections or just one large tank? I had to add an extra under/over divider to a small sump bc of bubbles.
