Whats this?

I have what looks like rust spots all over my glass. It also is forming also forming a rust colored net over the rock and on the sand. It seems to be contained on one half of my 180 gal.

Depending on how big the spots are, diatoms? Flatworms?

If it's new, its just one of the algae blooms that happens. My new upgrade is currently going through the same stage. Most of the sand has it and some of the rocks.
Reducing the lighting period seems to help unless you have corals that really need it.

It is not flat worms and the tank is 2 years old and well established. I have had Cyano problems before but they were purple in color and this is rust brown. It has covered areas in a transparent film, rust in color and leves 1/8" spots on the glass.
