tank crash?

From time to time someone states their tank crashed. Obviously this doesn't sound good. What does it mean when someones tank crashes and what happens?

when all your corals look like they are dieing or allready dead ( usually something to do with your water quality or something airborn) fish may also die

Also once at work somebody stacked 8 or 9 10G tanks on a palet. Looked great towering there until somebody tripped and 3 came off the top. I think that also qualifies as a tank crash

My tank crashed a few years ago due to over heat. What happened was everyone was out of the house for only a hour but a water line broke flooding everything. all carpet, walls,Floors, soaked. so we had to live a hotel for 2 months for remodeling all damages. "It was bad" but when the Dryers for the Floors and walls came out to Dry the house so we don't get mold, well.... It got over 100 in the house. "we did not realize it would heat up at the time" but found all my corals dead. and my fish dieing. in the end all fish made it but lost corals.

So a system can crash many different ways and the terms is used anytime many (maybe not all but many) of the inhabitants die off correct.
