Bubbles in tank
I've seen this thread on here before but I don't remember what the responses were. I have some bubbles on the arragonite at the bottom of the tank, on the returns and on the filter box inside the tank. What causes this? Is this a problem? If so, How do I fix it?
Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks, Keith |

what do you mean by bubbles? kind of hard to understand what you mean...Ive heard of microbubbles, bubble algae, bubbles forming on cyano during lights on period....be more specific if you can..also a pic would be great!

OK. They are clear regular bubbles. When I comb through the arragonite, they float up like regular bubbles then pop when they get to the top of the water. Sorry for being vague. They are also on the returns and the filter box. They are easy to get rid of but I was wondering if it was a sign that something wasn't right.

Only help I can give: I currently am having a cyano outbreak-some call it red slime. My outbreak is more brown...it starts out very fine and throught the day with the lights on bubbles form and float up to the top. During the lights off hours the bubble subside. The intensity is increasing daily. I have noticed it on the rocks, overflow, and the sand.
Solutions I am told are: increase flow, add phosban, replace filters, remove as much as you can. If that is not what your dealing with then, sorry for all the info Good luck....

It's gas (oxygen) generated by algae or cyno bacteria. Causes are dirty sand beds, poor lighting, too many nutrients and/or poor nutrient export.
Not a huge worry just fix the cause noted above. BTW, this can happen on new tanks cycling or just past a cycle.
