how do I get rid of bubble algae???

Had bubble algae trouble for a while now. Mytherix crabs won't touch it and my tank is already at a very low nutrinet level so I'm looking for any other predators of bubble algae. Any reef safe suggestions???

Jeremy

pick off manually what you can trying not to burst them, as it is believed that bursting them spreads the spores.

Just syphon them out when you do a WC. It's really easy to tell you the truth and affective to boot!

emerald crabs should eat bubble algae. Or you can take it out but dont pop it otherwise it will spread everywhere.

I have had success by removing the rocks and scrubbing them in water, then swishing in fresh mixed water and replacing them in the tank.

my purple tang never touched them.

I 'roll' mine off the rock when possible trying not to burst them. If I can't do that I inject them with a kalk slurry. They aren't so bad as long as you stay ahead of them.

Rezaktp and gdevine are both right . Do not pop them in the tank! I suck them out in the water.

I had red bubble algae and my kole and yellow tangs ate it, my starry blenny also gave a hand. I just aquired new rocks that have green bubble algae on them, I will see how they like that stuff.

I agree with Nanook. They worked for me. I had only one down fall with the Emerald Crab. When the bubble algea was gone he started to eat my hermit crabs. Keep an eye on him ............The little guy did the trick though. It took maybe a month. I had it real bad too. Good luck

I tried pulling them off and emerald crabs the only success I had was a red sea sailfin tang. The tang solved the problem after months of everything else.

For those who have an emerald crab that did work, have you had any problem with it bothering snails or shrimp?
