Whats up with my Purple People Eaters?

I got some purple people eaters from a friend about 2 months ago, and they were doing fine. I then moved them a little higher in the tank and they didn't seem so happy. I moved them back down, but they still aren't looking so good. Can anyone ID the problem with these? Did I melt them?

hmm could be some kind of pest irritating them. I'm assuming that your water params. have stayed the same? In general corals just don't like to be moved about. Nothing as ever reacted in a positive manner in my tank after being moved. I would just make sure that you leave them alone and make sure that your water quality is good. They should be ok...

yes, the water has stayed the same. i am an avid SPS keeper, and the params are all in tip top shape. doesn't really make sense for it to do this over just a move, i mean, they dont even do this when i put new ones in my tank. i have never seen this kind of reaction before.

If you move them they can take time for them to adjust to the light, water flow...etc.

If you move them today, they may look bad....but they need time to adjust. Then you move them again in a day or 2 ......and still look bad......WELL....you didn't give it enough time to adjust.

If you move it, give it some time to settle in.

How long have they been looking like this? And are you sure there are not zoanthid pests in the tank?

they have looked like this for a few weeks now, maybe a month. i dont think i have pests, but dont know. what am i looking for? i noticed a couple white speckles on the nuk greens and purple deaths. could these be pests. info on names of common zoanthid pests would be helpful, then i will look them up and see if there is anything that looks similar in my tank.

Search for zoanthids nudibranchs, spiders, snails, and diseases. You may do well browsing the zoanthid forum hear on IDing and finding the different potential pests.
