Stocking List for new 75 gallon
I am starting a new 75 gallon (currently cycling). I'd appreciate thoughts on my proposed stocking list. I'm going to have mostly acros, montis, chalice and lps (acans/blastos).
It is 48" x 24" x 15" and has a 25 G sump. Yellow Tang Picasso Clown Purple Firefish Mystery Wrasse Coral Beauty or Flame Angel Is this "too much" fish? Is there room for a second clown and/or purple firefish? Thanks! |

No, that's too much for such a small tank.
To start, a Picasso Trigger isn't remotely reef safe, and will quickly outgrow a 75gal tank. They are very aggressive, especially when confined. While I don't believe they eat SPS outright, they will consume all the necessary cleanup crew and inverts for keeping a reef. Second, a yellow tang is really only suitable for a 75gal as a juvenile. They really need a 6ft tank. A 75gal is the smallest tank that you can really keep a tang in, and I would say only the Ctenochaetus spp. are suitable, like the Tomini and Kole. Matt

He means a Picasso clownfish, not a trigger.
I'd be hesistent on the firefish, as the ones we've kept have always been harassed to death by Coral beauties or flame angels. |

Thanks for the heads up on the purple firefish and for the advice on the yellow tang.
Revised list: Kole Tang Coral Beauty Clownfish (Picasso) (x2) Mystery Wrasse Is this reasonable? I want to do it right and not have aggression or overcrowding. |

Yeah, that sounds great. You could maybe even add another small fish.
