Yah when I type "hydroids", I get results that don't look like these guys. But when I type "hydroids on glass" they come up. I have also seen the called this on a few websites. I highly doubt it is the jelly fish some people call them. I'm leaning towards a pod of some type. Just trying to find out the real name.

I'm seeing it called a "Hydroid Jellyfish" in allot of places. But I'm still not sure if that is what they really are?

Does anyone know what these are Exactly? I'm not worried in any way, just trying to learn as much as I can. This one seems to stump some people.

Only answers I have gotten are, hydroid, hydroid jellyfish, and Pod. Well I have guessed that it is some sort of pod, but I am trying to narrow down all the exact names on the pods.

if they move, they're a kind of pod. if they are sessile (stuck to the glass), then they are definitely hydroids. I am leaning more towards hydroids. Look carefully at the results you get from an image google search on hydroids. Hydroidea is frighteningly diverse with many known species unnamed because of the sheer volume (well... and the fact that not many biologists specialize in hydroid taxonomy! ). Even the polyps of a single species usually look very different as they mature and get ready to asexually reproduce.

hydroid and "hydroid jellyfish" are probably the same thing. Hydroids have a short (relative to their closest group, the true jellies in Anthozoa) stage in their lifecycle when they are a pelagic "hydromedusa." hydromedusae look very similar to true jellies in their medusa form but there are anatomical differences if you know what to look for. for the record though, it if it is a hydroid or jelly and they're stuck to something, it's in the polyp stage of their lifecycle. if it's swimming around in the water column, medusa.

They do not move and if and when they do it is very very little and very slow. I'm trying to figure out how they multiply. It looks like they get big then split, but I have not actually seen it. I have not even seen one that looks like its splitting at all but they seem to get bigger then the next day there is more of them and they are slightly smaller.

There are many different kinds of hydroids, but those do remind me of them. You may want to ask the folks at WWM, or just do a search.
