Sump Ideas?

Anyone have a link/diagram etc of a good sump with measurements for the baffles? I don't want to re-invent stuff just borrow from the best!

Yes that is a good link thanks. I am looking for something about 40g and I would like to know how/why/where the baffles work best?

Well you need to determine what equipment will go into the sump, then make chambers to accommodate for that. Are you going to run macro, do you have an ATO? Baffles should be spaced about 1 to 1 1/2" apart and the middle about the sam off the floor.

There is a ton of info out there, you either need to give up some more info of what you want to achieve, or do some searches.

Sorry, I am planning on skimmer/macro/ATO which i have now. My current Sump is just two 10g tanks tied together with all of the above items in them. It was mostly the 3 baffles design that I was looking at. Is there any specific height of the baffles as they relate to the tank? I will try to design my display overflow to only allow a very minimum amount water to drain into the sump if/when the power fails. Would that be a factor in the baffle heights? Should all of the baffles except the center bubble baffle be the same heigth?

Well, naturally the height of the baffles will certianly dictate the water level in the sump. That being said, you will need to leave sufficent room for back flow from the display, only you will know that number. Just make sure you leave MORE than enough room in the sump.

Read the above supplied link, check out Melevsreef.com and do some searchs.
