Its a fish eat fish world?
So i was considering a blue spot jawfish but i have read that they eat small fish. Well i need to know wether they do or do not(im hoping for the latter). The smaller of my mated pair of clowns is only a inch so if theres any chance he would be eaten im gonna write the jawfish of the list. i would enjoy having one , my sand is full of shells and coral rubble and would be great burrow fodder.

Hope I didn't scare you off your purchase. Not my intention at all. They're great fish! The one I posted was a rather large (5") black-cap jawfish. My bsjf has never messed with any other fish in the tank, including a small tail-spot blenny. All the fish I've ever seen or heard of being eaten by a jawfish were slender bodied fishes(my pearly others rainford and clown gobies are real small)
It's just a fact of life for any fish, if another fish can fit in its mouth it can become food. And jawfish do have a rather large mouth. That doesn't mean they will actively hunt or stalk your clown though. |

I'd a pair of 3-3.5" Blue Throat Triggers before and they never bother any of my small angels or inverts. I currently have a Xtrig and she doesn't bother any of the small fish or hermits. I do feed on the heavy side and they are eat live clam on half-shell twice a week.

If your worried, just turbo feed the little clown and once he's a bit bigger add the BSJF.
In general, all fish will eat other fish if they can catch it and fit it in their mouth. Of course there are exceptions, like with tangs, but if you folow the mouth-size guidelines you won't be suprised .
