Do you have a picture? It may be cyano. You can google it to compare.

do you think it is reaching the nitrogen spike right now, which is in turn causing the algae bloom? The brown stuff seems to be covering all of my coraline algae. I have been adding 1.5 cap fulls of seachem stabilizer for the last week. Do you thinks that stuff works? I really appreciate the help!

Without a picture, only a guess but I would say from the description 85% diatoms

It's normal. Most will go away on their own as the silicates in the water are used up. The rest will taken care of when you add your CUC.
