I have done away with the mag drive pumps and replaced them with snapper pumps.

would it be better to go with a dsb then the refigium?

I dont see why that WOULDN'T work. If you only have 12" of space for your sump then I would anticipate that you'll have a problem with bubbles getting back into the Display.

Another POSSIBlE little thing is that if your ATO is pumping fresh water into the same compartment that your skimmer is drawing from it MAY screw up the foam inside the skimmer for a few mins. that doesn't sound like much.. but if it does it 10x a day.. it could cut down on your skimmer efficency.

Just little things ... basically.. if it doesn't leak.. holds your equipment... and gets water back to your tank.. it will work.

okay sorry.. i didnt update the size of the sump. I am building my sump out of a 125 gallon tank... so the sizes will be off from what i posted.

that makes sense about the ro/di water so close to the skimmer. I will look to move it away from there.

I have a few suggestions:
â€¢ There should be a float switch to turn off the return pump if the water level drops to the level of the pump inlet.
â€¢ The return compartment should be large enough that it would not run dry on system startup nor overflow on system shutdown.
â€¢ A DSB with no algae requires no lighting (except a work light).
