You should get all types of answers for this one but I think most will say no, or not in the display anyway.

I run a Plenum and DSB in the display and have for a long time.

Lots of ways to do things. wait for replys and then take the majority advice or flip a coin

I would put a DSB in one of your sump compartments, you could use the same compartment for your DSB & chaeto. Your call but I would def put a DSB, I have 5" of sand in my fuge. I seeded it with some live sand....my .02. Good luck with the new set-up.

I agree. If done right, you wont need the dsb in the main tank. I have a 2-3 inch sand bed and my nitrates are always zero. I rely on live rock and live sand to do the work for me. DSB's are not maintance free.

thanks guys,

The DSB I was thinking of having would be in one of the sump chambers, not in the display, think I was not too clear on that... ok so if I go for a DSB which of the three chambers would it be in, the second(middle)? so first for filter sock and skimmer, second DSB/Chaeto and last one for return pump?
