DI question
What's the difference between Nuclear Grade and Semi Conductor Grade DI Mixed Bed Resin?
Where's the best place to buy it?

I get Nuclear grade myself, but don't know the difference, sorry.
I get all my filters/DI resin from thefilterguys.biz, they are a sponser here. |

Common descriptions are a bit confusing but it basically boils down to the electrical conductivity or resistivity the DI resin is capable of producing in the finished water. Your goal is to get as close to 18.2 megaohms resistivity (0.05 micro siemens)as possible, a true 0 TDS. Not all resins will do this, in fact most won't. You may register 0 TDS with a hobbyist grade handheld or inline meter but a resistivity meter will tell the tale, most TDS meters will only read down to 5 micro siemens not 0.05). For our uses true 18.2 megaohms may be overkill but I choose to produce that level of water myself.
The terms nuclear grade and semiconductor grade are often interchangable but semiconductor grade should be the better of the two. |
