HQI ballast will work on mogul?

Hi,

I want to change my lighting from a HQI to mogul base. Im wondering if i can keep my ballast and just change the fixture to fit mogul bulb?
My ballast is Hamilton pulse start HQI (ANSI M80)

Thanks.

Will work fine. I run Reeflux SEs on a PFO HQI ballast and love them.

It will work but you will over power any standard mogul bulb. They will need to be changed out after 6 months or so. If you have a 250w I would look into using a radium. They are a HQI mogul bulb.

I think you are confused on what HQI really means.

You can use that M80 ballast to power any of the M58 mogul based bulbs, but it will greatly reduce the life of the bulb and probably void the warranty.

My suggestion would be to use the Radium 250 watt bulb. That is an HQI bulb and will run great off an M80 ballast.

I could be wrong but HQI is just another substitute word for DE (double-ended).
