I've been using it now for a couple months and I love it. Brought my Nitrates from Red to undetectable in about 3 weeks and caused no problems in my tank. The SPS look better than ever. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone considering Vodka or sugar for Nitrate reduction. It worked faster and better than Vodka for me.

have used on 2 diff tanks. always worked & faster than product says. tried massive water changes & everything else. this is only product that has brought trates down to zero. 1 tank from over 80 down to zero. it either works or makes test kits look like it does. using right now brought 120 from 40 to zero. i would recommend. though some say it does same as sugar or vodka.
i have not had any side affects from product & tells how much to use. dont have to guess

I tried it and it didn't do diddley. But I have a theory and a question for those that did have success with it. Are you running a phosphate reactor? What are your PO4 test results.

I just started using this product and I'm getting a whitish film on everything. To the point where the sponge prefilters in my phosphate reactors are caked with the film and flow is prohibited. Same with my sponge filter on my skimmer outflow.

You can also see this film growing on the glass and on my grow out rack. Not sure what to make of this.

I plan to check my parameters tonight. As for the case of observing my coral and fish - all seem great - no visible reaction and I've been using this product for 8 days.

My reactor is going nuts as predicted and the skimmate is really smelly.

I have about 300 total gallons and I followed the dosage on the bottle.

I'm hoping that tonight's water tests will demonstrate a lowering in nitrates. I'd like to start lowering the dosage slowly in hopes of getting rid of the film...

I'll report back once I have numbers.

Just ran my tests (after having to clean out the "film" out of one of my return lines). It resembles snot more than anything...

I took a sample under the microscope and couldn't determine much...probably a bacteria bloom??

Either way, its annoying and clogging my plumbing.

My tests were impressive. I went from about 30MG/L to ZERO...I'm using a 2 year old Salifert test kit and I ran it twice...no color at all...whereas 9 days ago it was in fact pink-ish...at about 30...

So, perhaps this stuff works and I need to start tapering my dosage to get rid of the snot problem...

Either way, I'll keep my experience logged in this thread.

I also used my new ELOS calcium test kit (450 general and 440 for the accurate test) and my ELOS magnesium test kit (1100).

So, overall I'm pleased with my water, the corals are coloring up nicely and I have no nuissance algae (yet!).

The term film is a gross understatement at this point.

Today I had to scrape about 3 lbs of this "snotty film" off the back wall of my overflow. It came off in sheets about 24 inchecs long 4 inches wide and about 1/4 inch thick...it looked what I'd imagine whale blubber to be - thankfully - no odor...

It has blocked just about all of my plumbing and finally renedered my skimmer useless - this required a complete and throrugh cleaning.

I started to run carbon and this film turned the carbon into an impervious mass.

My feed lined to my calcium reactor and feed pump (aqua lifter) needed to be completed dismantled and scrubbed too.

I've cut down my AZNO3 dose substantially in hope that this is a major (beneficial) bacteria bloom and that my physical esport of the slime today will reduce the exponential growth that I've experienced.

Not cool - but the Nitrates are down to undetectable amounts and the corals are looking great....Sunday will be two weeks of using AZNO3.

I'll keep ya'll up to date.

Great product. My nitrates were 40...I did a large water change and started this product. So, I started with about 20 and in less than 2 weeks just about zero. The corals look great as well. Excellent product...highly recomended

i used it and did not like it. it did make my skimmer skim more effectively. But also killed the shrimp i had in my tank. Since the product depeletes iodine

The goo sounds like the same as you find under a UG filter that has ran a long time so I would concur this is a bacterial bloom.

I do have to wonder about dissolve oxygen levels when using this product.

I always had good success with it. It will cause a bacteria bloom as long as there are nutrients they like in the tank. I never had anything as severe as you describe though. Are you sure you arent overdosing?

I followed the dosage on the bottle to a t...I may have been off by 20 gallons or so in calculating my total volume...I'm just about 300 gallons on that particular system.

Since my NO3 levels have been drastically reduced, I'm scaling back the dosage slowly.

The film growth has ceased...

Now its simply maintaining (what I haven't been able to physically remove).

Today's the two week mark and it got rid of my nitrates, but created a new world of maintenance hell.

I'll keep you all up to speed.

I didn't see the comment about the lost shrimp above - my cleaner died a few days ago...kinda odd.

I've been dosing iodine nightly as usual though...my two pistols are still kicking and appear just fine.

Hmmm....
