I was there last summer and the place is fascinating to see. They sell puppies, birds, kittens, reptiles, freshwater fish, etc. I do not know anything about their knowledge level however and would tend to put more faith in advice from a fish only store. They had a nice selection and fair prices on the saltwater stuff. Most of us on RC tend to stay wary of LFS advice, no matter where. It's essential to research any livestock purchases before you buy, but that's good advice for all stores, not just that one.

I pretty much only buy live stock from Reef Creation off Genesee by the airport. Its a salt water only shop & is always clean. As for supplies use the internet or any shop with the cheapest prices. Pet Mart right in Batavia has a good selection of equipment and a real nice scratch and dent section with some good deals. Caribean Forrest in Rochester has a nice selection of salt water stuff.
As for Pets Plus I was only in there once about a year ago looking at reptiles and there were a few dead animals still in their tanks. I realize sometimes animals die for uncontrolable reasons i just dont like seeing them in the store, come on take them out and put them in the back room or something. I like neat and clean stores, this is a very neat & clean hobby. Being in Batavia you have a lot of choices within 30 - 40 minthat are excellent shops. Like it was said above do your own research and never trust a LFS. |

I think Pet Mart in Batavia is closed. I'm certain that they closed their saltwater department and if memory serves correctly, they sold the whole shebang.

Yes, thank you for all your suggestions. Petmart in Batavia did sell out all their salt water stuff, that is why we are looking for a new place.
We just got back from the place in Lockport Petsplus and they don't have the time to help you and they sold us the wrong bulbs even though we brought in our bulbs for our tank. Now we have to drive another hour back there to get our money back. We will try the Reef Creation out near the buffalo airport. Thank you. |
