Depends on your plumbing, but I usually pull the standpipe out of the bulkhead and let whatever is in there go to the sump. If it doesnt go then you can reach down and grab him once the water is drained.

Well I would put some food on a stick and lure him up enough to gently grab with my hands. It may help to have two people.

Yeah, I didn't want to pull the plumbing if I don't have too. To make matters worse, this is in a 92 gal corner so it's really hard to reach back there.

I have a peppermint that does that all the time. I usually leave him in there for a good week or two just to make sure he doenst forget.

to get him out, firt turn off the pumps. you dont want him going spastic and then getting stuck on the strianer, it will kill him... dont ask how I found that out. I try to use a large diameter hose for a syphon and suck him out, you got to be quick though, becuase a large hose will suck out all the water quick and if you dont get him, then he is left on the bottom with no water, so then you have to reach in and pull him out with your hands. I have tried the net thing too, but its a major PITA in my tank and never works

OK. Thanks for all the replies. I'm going to try the siphon method. It seems like my best chance. I'll let everyone know how I make out.

+1 to just pulling the pipe out and letting it just go to your sump. I also have a 92g corner tank and that works for me.
