Cold water & live rock

Well, I got hit with reefer's law. You know, that law that's kind of like Mr Murphy's law...for those of you that don't know, reefer's law: No matter how long your tank has been up and running and trouble free, the second you walk out your door to go on vacation, the fit hits the shan with your tank.

So I had some trouble with my tank while I was out of town, and my heater went kaput.

Lost the majority of my corals, and inverts to it. So I've got a fish & Live (I hope) rock. The tank was probably at 65-70 degrees for the better part of 2 weeks. Is my LR still doing it's job?

It should be.. I'm sure there was some die off from the low temps but i would think the majority of denitrifying bacteria would survive

bacteria reproduce fast enough that some are generally able to adapt to changing conditions. THe population likely suffered but was not destroyed. a little water testing should confirm the population

I keep my tank at around 72-6 so I dont think there will be too much die off with the rock, all of mine is thriving!
