Recirculation mod on a Coralive Super Skimmer, I have some questions

I know there's a big thread on SS mods, but the search function won't work for me.

I'm looking to add a recirc pump on my Coralife SS 65 and want some guidance before I start cutting.

I saw one with this done at a LFS and it looked like the guy just cut 2 holes in the skimmer, one for the intake and one for the outlet, and hooked a maxijet 600 to it. He had an airline running to a silencer and it made a lot more bubbles in the skimmer than mine does in stock form.

I think, to make the union between the powerhead and the skimmer, he just drilled holes in the skimmer body and used threaded PVC fittings to screw into the body. These looked like they were glued/epoxied to the powerhead.

Is there anything I"m missing here? Does this mod yield worthwhile results on this skimmer?

Threaded holes in skimmer body is probably asking for water on the floor if not done correctly. I would imagine it would be easier with uniseals instead.

Well, the skimmer is installed in the sump so a little leakage won't kill me. I'll probably use a gasket/bulkhead though. Fittings aside, do I have the right idea for this?
