Mushroom vs Favia

The other day I noticed that my favia was melting. When I took it out to frag the dead part away I noticed three mushrooms were growing under it, the location where it was melting.

Can the mushroom touching it have caused the favia to die?

Here is a pic of the shrooms - http://ctfishstores.com/blogs/kelley...s/blueshrooms/

If you look closely at the pic of the favia, you can see a blue shroom starting to grow up near the bottom of the favia.

Thanks!
Kelley

Yes that is quite possible, one will win out, but I'd bet on the mushroom, it seems the less expensive corals always win

I'd try to remove the mushroom or use joes juice (or equivalent) to kill it.

That would seem to make sense. Are shrooms really that aggressive? I know they spread like mad but I was unaware they could kill a coral.

I think I am going to do a good thinning soon and see how many I can get rid of.
