cleaning the refugium

My HOB fuge is getting alot of coralline, some green algea in it and the white barnicles also. It's been running for about a year soon. Is it time to change the sand and clean it or do I leave it be?

As long as there are no problems anywhere, I myself would leave it alone. I never bother anything of mine unless there is a problem.
