French Angel.... (ATTN: Owners)

One of my LFS has one for like 30 bucks, its in this stage...

However they told me on the invoice it wasn't a French Angel, and they are assuming it isn't a french angel. I really want to buy this for my reef, any am assuming one day it turns into the bottom link below...
http://www.marinecenter.com/fish/angelfish/frenchangel/

However!, the last angel I had, Eibli Angel, was a loser, I hated him. I'm sorry but I did, literally in 2 days, all of my zoanthids and green star polyps, and other corals were closed or dead from him, he went nuts... do I have the same risk with this one? I'm just wondering what everyones experienced with theres... Any how they like them? This would be going into my 90 reef along with a

-Gold Rim Tang
-Yellow Tang
-Sixline Wrasse
-Maroon Clown
-2 Green Chromis
-Cleaner Wrasse
-Peppermint Shrimp
-Snowflake Eel,

Any miscompatibility there? Let me know please by tonite as I want to go there tomorrow, and get him into my QT before he gets real bad disease like the other fish there, right now he looks real good as they just got him in and hes cheap Thanks

Angels aren't reef safe. At all. Sometimes people get away with keeping them in a reef, but it's always a possibility for them to eat corals. I've known hobbyists who kept them, even for a year or more, only to have them decide to eat corals. And as your Eibl's angel showed you, they don't screw around once they make that decision.

The angel at your local store may be the grey angel (Pomacanthus arcuatus) or cortez angel (P. zonipectus)- they look almost identical as juveniles. As a species, french angels can be a bit belligerent, and eventually will outgrow your 90 gallon. Though ideally, so will your two tangs and snowflake eel . And your eel has the ability to gulp down your peppermint shrimp, but you probably know that.

At any rate, my best and most conservative advice is to pass on the angel. Buying it "before it gets sick" doesn't make much sense to me, as that means catching and moving it several times in rapid succession. Plus, he's already exposed to whatever disease his tankmates are showing. And it honestly also doesn't sound like a great fit for your tank.

Knowing that most people would probably go for it anyway, I'd also advise feeding it as diverse a diet as possible and not adding any other Pomacanthus angels in with it. Good luck!

btw the gold rim is awesome I've had him for probably a month now, he wasn't in the best shape when I got him, but got him for only 30 bucks, which I thought was a good deal, now he is 100% clear, and my favorite fish I love him.

Unless you are going to be getting a bigger tank tomorrow (( and I mean BIG )) stay away from it (( even if it turns out to be a Cortez, or grey, all three get way too big for a 90 )).

And to be honest, with what you currently have in your tank, I don't think you should be considering any more fish.

Haha, it really isn't that packed in there, the gold rim gets to be what 8" yellows about the same but I've never seen any very big yellows,,, those are my 2 biggest fish, and right now there both about 4 or 5 =/ I don't think its too bad right now. But thats my opinion, I wanted to do at least one more fish,

I had (( key word being had )) both a gold rim and a yellow in my 75 years okay, as they both got larger they fought a lot more, and realized that a 4 foot tank just isn't big enough for them.

But, it is your tank, and you can do what you want.
