Lifereef Skimmer ???

Why aren't there any Lifereef skimmers for sale. There is every other skimmer posted on this board for sale. Is there anyone still running this product. I just switched from a becket to a Mazzie injector and the bubble size is much finer. Anyone ?????????

I see them from time to time. In fact, I think I saw a 24" with a 12" extender in the for sale forumn today.

I am in the process of finishing my basement and working on the fish room that will house all my equipment for a 300g tank. I will be running the 72" Lifereef skimmer. I have no used it yet... but it is built sturdy as can be. I'm trying to decide if I want to try to gravity feed it from one of the overflows.... should be plenty of flow I think and could save me a pump and some electricity.

I use a lifereef. I like it a lot, and for me has been very set and forget. But, with that said, the SWC cone destroyed it for less wattage.

At this time (hairyman 1) I took my MTC HSA 3000 and installed it with the Mazzie instead of the dual beckett . The pump is the same one I used with both set up ,pan world 200 ps rated at 1750 gph. The bubbles are finer and more consistant.

Thanks Greg. That's a bit larger than I wanted. Hey, what size mazzei are you running?

I have a lifereef skimmer....a 5ft and I have had very good success with it.......I am running a blueline model 70 on it and it keeps my 210 under very good conditions....It is a very simple skimmer to use and operate..I am in the process of upgrading my system to a much larger size and will be selling it soon.

They are old technology, far better skimmers around these day that use mush smaller pumps.

I have a lifereef VS3-24 and like it a lot. It is a set and forget skimmer. Sure it might use a little more electricity then say a needlewheel, but it is such low maintenance its a cost I'm willing to live with.

Also Jeff's skimmers are a work of art. They are so well built you feel like your putting old world craftsmanship under your tank. Would definatley get another one.

Also LifeReefs support is excellent. I like the way it skims and the fact that it doesn't need constant tweeking.

One day I'll have to get one. There are more efficient skimmers out there and those that make more air, but you get to a point where you don't want to tweak of mod yer stuff anymore and you want to retire and watch your tank grow. A lifereef let's you do that from the numerous posts I have read. Nobody says their junk. All they say is that there are more efficient skimmers out there. Well for the 24" to 30" skimmers that may well be true, but the 5' and 6' foot models seem able to hang with any skimmer in their price range. There comes a time when I want a classic mustang or corvette compared to the current models because we all sometimes want to keep things simple. Cutting edge technology is cool for the youngbloods with large tax refunds, but if a design works well then I stick with it until my tank inhabitants require something better to survive and propagate. There I said it. Time for a cold one.

I'm looking at a lifereef skimmer too and just spoke with Jeff on the phone. Wow, what amazing customer service! HE called ME back long distance and answered my questions for about half an hour. I want to give him my business just because he's so helpful!

I have the VS3-60 and I would like to think that you dont see many for sale here because once people get them we dont ever want to sell them.

I love my skimmer set it up leave it alone. I dont think I've messed with the settings more then once every few months.

Hella
