idea for reactor or somthing/bubble trap "idea"

I am brainstorming my new sump and have an idea, my drain is going to "T" and one end go to the fuge with a ball valvr to control flow, the other is going to go to the skimmer area of the sump. Now for my idea, i am thinking in the skimmer section, having 3 or 4 tubes for the return, (so having 3 or 4 drains all with ball valves) these tubes will be made of cast acrylic 4 inches in diameter. I am thinking about putting caps on top of them with a hose barb for the water to enter and a hole for air to escape. I am planning on using these for a couple things. For various means of filtration, one i would have live rock in, one i would run carbon when i wanted to, one i might run a p04 remover and the other i would probably keep closed most of the time but have it just in case, or maybe not. Also another benifit from this would be to quiet the sump down. I am just rambling i hope this makes since and i am sure someone has done it before, i just want some input before i build and plumb my sump
