Unhappy PETA Launches New Campaign - Sea Kittens

Yes thats right. The new launch is set to rename fish to "Sea Kittens". Check it out for yourself at PETA's Website.

Now I understand where they are trying to go with this but.... wouldn't the money and resources be better used to educate people about marine preservation instead of coming up with some corny gimmick. To me it seems to dilute their credibility with something that the majority of people will see as delusional and will end up being counter productive since the money and human resources put into this campaign are waisted on silly concepts instead of actual education.

Is this really the best they could do to help our fishy friends? I am guessing not really........... by a long shot

Watch out LFS employees you are about to have an influx of Sea Kitten shoppers. Better get a good stock of Nemos and fish bowls.

Several thoughts.

1) What credibility?

2) Delusional? Always. It's their policy, apparently.

3) Counterproductive? I just ate my clownfish just to spite them uuurrrp.....

4) Wasted money? Yes. Maybe some money will actually go to help abused animals, but most of it will be used for theatrical silliness.

5) Silly concepts? That's all they got.

From PETA website http://www.peta.org/sea_kittens/about.asp 1/13/09

People don't seem to like fish. They're slithery and slimy, and they have eyes on either side of their pointy little heads—which is weird, to say the least. Plus, the small ones nibble at your feet when you're swimming, and the big ones—well, the big ones will bite your face off if Jaws is anything to go by.
Um, most aquarium keepers I know like fish precisely BECAUSE they are slimy, slippery, and have eyes on their pointy heads. And we like to watch them nibble on things and occasionally bite annoying people's faces off.

Like their surface-dwelling cousins, the land kittens, sea kittens enjoy being petted. Their lack of arms makes it difficult for them to pet back, but they often gently rub against each other as a sign of affection.

Yes. Please come pet the fish. There's some electric catfish over there, a few Volitans over in that tank, some stingrays in that pool over there, the wolf-eels over in that big tank are particularly cuddly.... although beware the bull shark in my nano, he'll bite your face off.

What they didn't expect is all the people who already hate cats WAY more than anybody could be "indifferent" to fish

cant change the meaning of something just by changing the name.

just cuz your cat has kittens in the oven doesn't mean they're muffins. nor are fish sea kittens.

I like when the peta people protest naked. Some of them tree hugging girls are pretty hot.

OMG! Hahaha...I love the "create your own sea kitten." You can give it floaties, a unicorn horn, and everything! Man these people must have a warped sense of reality.
