LR from the LFS or online?
I have three LFS stores within 75 miles of me. I checked each for LR prices and got 7.99lb, 5.99lb and 4.99lb. I don't know what it looks like yet. Would you try to buy from one of them or go online? I need 100lbs. and don't want to get ripped. What would you do?

Go on craigslist , you can get good deals there if you know what to look for , and what to look out for!

I bought mine from craigs list.I would try and find someone local breaking down a tank.If that is not an option then i would prob look at bulk reef supply and buy base rock from them and maybe a few pieces from the lfs to seed the tank.

I have some in my 55g that I will leave until my new 90g is up and running. I can seed with that. The prices at the LFS just look real high!

yes you would get fresh live rock from the LFS, but for a price. You can order from online and get some die off, but it would be cheaper. I would order base rock, and seed it with the live rock you already have.

Thanks, the CraigsList doesn't help much because there isn't much listed in the area where I live. Were would I get a good price on base rock? I don't mind waiting on it to mature.

You can get nice looking live rock online for a fraction of the cost from a LFS and if you were to get online in your area or close to it as well, there would be minimal die off to it.

I bought uncured live rock from my local fish store for $2.22 a pound, the cured stuff they usually sell is $4.99 a pound.

I bought all of my rock for my first setup online. Now I buy it all from California that comes from the islands it originates from. I guess its Still from online though.
