Skimmer issues
I have a Aquamedic Turboflotor 5000 baby. I just set it up on my new tank, and when I plug in the chord for the skimmer pump it makes a weird noise, I figured out that the hose attached to the venturi was full of water, so I blew from the other end of it to get the water out, and air in. It worked fine for a few hours, I didn't look at the hose, but it seemed like everything was working fine because the skimmer wasn't making that noise that it made when it wasn't working.
I just unplugged the skimmer pump so that I could put it on a surge protector, but now the venturi hose just keeps filling up with water. I blow into it and the water goes away and comes right back when I stop blowing in it. What do I do here? Anyone ever have a problem like this? It's almost like the venturi isn't sucking in air like it normally does, not once have I had a problem like this before. Thanks |

Well, I noticed that the hose on the venturi was not on there very tight. So I took a zip tie, and put it on there making the connection very tight. It worked fine after this, but I had to unplug the skimmer pump one more time, I turn the pump and once again it is not working. Not only that, but the skimmer continues to leak from somewhere, there is nothing that aggravates me more than walking into my living room, only to step in a puddle of water. To make things even worse, my entertainment system with my HDTV, PS3, Xbox, and everything else is only about 6 feet away, and whenever water leaks it always seems to head straight for the entertainment system, must be a slope in the floor or something.
So now I am in the same situation, why is the venturi hose still filling with water? Does the connection between the hose and the venturi need to be extremely tight? Or what might be the problem here? |

It could be something restricting the water flow at or around the venturi location.
