Finished first 6 weeks of Prodibio, Is this a good list of foods instead of reefboost

Hello,
Like the title says I have been on biodigest and bioptim for 6 weeks now. I dont want to use Reefbooster because i have read some good things and some bad things and the bad seemed to outweigh the good.

I have come up with some supplements and foods from zeovit and brightwell and was wondering if any of these products would not be good to dose on a tank that isnt using a zeo reactor or any of the zeovit bac system.

Zeofood7
Spongepower
zeospur2
zeostart2

and from brightwell

koralkolor
amino acids

Would anyone recommend me not using one of these products while only dosing prodibio biodigest and bioptim every 15 days? Do any of these do the same thing as each other? Is there any other products that I should also do?

thanks

brian

I'm not sure about some of the additives that you listed. But Amino Acid would be fine. Zeo Start would not hurt anything but may not be necessary. Zeo Coral Vitalizer may be a good one to try as well. It's an easy source of food for corals and does not raise NO3 or PO4.

Be VERY careful with ZeoSpur2. This is high-powered stuff. It is not exactly food for your corals. If overdosed, you could kill everything in your tank. It is not a necessary additive by any stretch and you should read up on this one on RC before you try it in your tank. Some have had great results with it but I have not read a single thread of anyone who uses it long-term.

That's about all I can comment on. You may want to try Reefbooster and see what the results are in your tank. You can always cut the dose in half to start. Recommend cutting off the skimmer for 5-6 hours after dosing. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking about cutting those 2 out and maybe adding coral viltalizer and/or coralsnow. What about those 2 with zeofood? Should i use the Sponge Power?

Im open to all thoughts and ideas

Have not used SongePower personally but I have read others have had good results (especially with reds and blues). Vitalizer and CoralSnow are great additions to an SPS reef IMO. Have not used ZeoFood so cannot comment on that.

If you have never used Zeo products before, just keep in mind that the dosing recommendations on the labels are maximum doses - meaning start with a smaller dose and see how your tank reacts. I use Zeo Aminos and use less than the bottle recommends - if you use too much, it may lead to an algae bloom (what doesn't right?). That goes for Coral Vitalizer and Snow as well.

Good luck to you.

If you're intrested in using something in lieu of reefbooster, I think Zeo's amino acids and possibly coral vitalizer ought to do it. In my experience, one of the problems with taking on a list of supplements following or inconjunction with a low-nutrient regime is that you don't know what positively impacts your coral. For instance, at one point I observed positive results with the addition of three Zeo products yet was unable to know which of the three (possibly all, possibly only one) caused the favorable results. As such, I think it would be in your best interest to only experiment with one additive at a time.

Hope this helps

Rick

Rick,

That was my intention and over the last 6 weeks i guess i got a little excited and forgot about doing it that way. Thanks for the advice and im going to stick that. I already have brightwells AA's so im going to continue to use them and i will purchase coral vitalizer. Will that be all i need to keep the corals fed other then fish food/waste?

I guess after some time of using vitalizer i will try to use something else with it like maybe coral snow? or zeofood7?

Anyone else want to chime in?
