Algae?

My tank is only 4 weeks old. I am getting clusters of purple mushrooms growing on one rock. I assume it it some type of algae, but I am not sure. They vary in size and look purple/ reddish brown/ or burgundy. Can you guess what it is without a pix?

I do have a picture but I can't seem to get it posted. The file is too large and I have tried everything. I can email it.

Ok...send it to Froggyj@millenicom.com

If I can't figure it out, at least maybe I can shrink the picture small enough to get it posted and maybe somebody else will chime in with an id.

i agree, go to photobucket.com, create an account, and you can upload photos there. once you get it done and get photos in there you just copy and paste the img code on whatever pic you want to post and you're good to go. you can resize in photobucket beforehand also.

After hours of research online, I have figured it out. It is RED bubble algae. I know of green, but never red. The scientific name is Red Velonia Ventricosa and it is exactly the same look and description as what I have. Thanks for all of your messages! It is nice to know that so many are there to help.
