Red Sea Prizm Pro HELP, i cant get it t work

I got this skimmer for free with some lights nd LR i bought off a fellow reefer. The problem is i cant get this thing to work right. One of 2 things happen. I eiter get to much flow coming through the "spillway" and it overflows off the back of the skimmer on the floor or it pulls way to wet and fills the cup with water in about 15 seconds

sounds like there is something wrong with the skimmer itself. maybe something is broken or it is missing a seal somewere.

i have 2 prizms and i love them. never had any of those problems. if it is skimming too wet then turn the intake knob down some.
