Need Help on possible sick fish
Hi all,
I just introduced a yellow Foxface into my reef tank and he seemed fine for the first 2 days, but I got up this morning and he was swiming back and forth and every once in awhile, he would bum into something right in front of him. He was a bright yellow, but he was a very pale white. Gradually, some of his color started to come back, but he went to the bottom of the tank and sat there and only if I tapped on the glass would he start swimming. My tank light comes on at 4:00am, so I dont know if he was scared by the light and was waking up or what. I dont have a seperate tank, but now I wish I did. I checked the water and everything looked within limits. My other fish all seemed fine and were eating. Any help would be great. thanks |

did you quarantine him for at lest 6 weeks first.. Also did you slowly acclimate him to your tank he could be under stress from different water conditions than what he was previously housed in

Rabbits are spooks. You'll have noted they have opal eyes, which always look cloudy. They freak and go catatonic on occasion, and this behavior isn't unusual. They can also go rushing off madly, scaring everybody. This isn't saying he might not be sick---but they are such spooks, total fright could be doing this. Give him time to settle.
You should be quarantining, btw. At least 2 weeks. I've rarely seen a rabbit that didn't come in with ich or develop it at some point. They rarely die of it, but they'll happily give it to other fish. Do be careful handling him: you know those spines are venomous, and it's nasty if you get stuck. Now that I've been totally full of good news, hopefully he's fine and will settle right down. They're beautiful fish.
