frogspawn

Frogspawn has been in tank for over 2 years. I have never seen it close for longer than a day or so... It has been closed for 6 days now. No change to tank and parameters are all normal. Everything in tank is thriving! No other corals are within reach either. Any suggestions!

Something nipping it? Alkalinity? Do you have Galaxia in the tank?

Please post the actual tank parameters. "Normal" tells us nothing about what could possibly be going on with your water chemistry. It would also help if you listed your tank inhabitants as well as which one of your tanks you are referring to (i.e. your 55g or 12g).

Basically what you're asking for is about the equivalent of calling up your doctor and saying, "I feel ill, but all of the stuff you usually check for is normal. Any suggestions?"

Typically euphyllia closes because it's being irritated. Change in flow (too much), change in lighting, or a fish/invert nipping at the polyps is the cause. Watch your tank to see if something is irritating the coral. It's a nasty job to watch your tank for hours on end but it's necessary .

Before mine all died in heat related incident, whenever my bulbs got old they began to retract more and more as time went on. Once new bulbs were in they fully extended again.
