Covering Back of Aquarium????

What do you use to cover the back of the aquarium? The glass on the outside where cords hang. I have seen background covers for sale at the store but dont like any of them?

I spray paint the back black some use blue. I think this gives a good pop and it covers all the S&it in the back.

well, there is a lot you can do. I prefer just putting a back or blue background paper on. You can get this at most LFS. My roommate has a 10g and uses foil. It gives the tank a cave like aspect.

Painted both of my tanks black. I rolled on a flat Rustoleum Black. Works really well and dont have to risk overspray!

I sprayed blu and black in thin coats until completely covered. The bleeding through effect that it gives adds depth. Krylon Fussion paint

You can order vinyl adhesive that is easy to install from marinedepot.com. I believe it comes in black or blue.

If your not sure about what kind of background you want, buy a bunch of different types from the lfs, different colors, etc. Then mix a tablespoon or two of regular dish detergent into a cup of water. Coat the whole background with it using an old paintbrush and put it on the back. Then use a ruler to flatten out all of the air bubbles. The dish detergent is a non permanent way of attaching it and makes it easily removable. Stays on pretty well too, mine has been on for 3 years

I recently just picked up this backing thats shiny silver on one side and a shiny deep blue on the other.. wasnt to sure how it would look but actually the dark blue made the tank look even deep of the reflection of all my rock work.. it gave it a faint reflection of a further reef. Kinda Neat IMO

Cant really tell here but once i get everything finished ill post another pic

if you do go with a bought vynal background petrolium jelly works greaat,Put a then coat on the tank then squeggee out the air with a credit card wipe up excess jelly,A couple pcs. of tape on the edge dosen't hurt.Keeps backing on and gives it the wet look.had backing on fresh water tanks for yrs,now almost 2yrs on my salt

I used a blue window cling that is made for aquariums. It will be easier to remove if you decide to change your mind.
