Getting Rid of Sand Dust?
How do I do it?! I put 40 pounds in my newly set up 55 gallon tank and it's been in for a month. But every time i try to move the rock the sand dust clouds up the whole tank for a whole day!
I have tried running filter pads and carbon but they don't seem to do any good. Also I don't want to run too much filtration because I'm waiting for the tank to spike its levels. Any help is greatly appreciated. |

As your tank ages the sand will clump together more... Low Micron filter socks work well. But as your system matures the clouds will only last an hour or so.

Patient. "It hurts when I do this.
Dr. "Then don't do that. You should not be getting that much "sand dust"...did you wash the sand before putting it into your tank? -R |

Don't move the rock. Seriously.
don't disturb a sandbed. But also seriously---once your sand acquires a bacterial coating, it will settle. Did you wash it before you installed it? I didn't either, silly me. Hereafter I will.
