How far should lights be from surface? T5HO
How far should i have a T5HO fixture off of the surface of the water? 6x54w.. would it be the same height as metal halide?

i would leave it as close a possible that heat and splashing won't affect it plus your tank

4-5" should be plenty. Closer if you have an acrylic shield in the fixture to protect them from splashing.

have a aquatinics fixture , it`s designed & recomened to sit directly on top of tank. can get brackets but they only raise 3 or 4 inches. not made for use with canopy, i just moded my canopy with vent holes on each end. fans pull air from left & blows heat from bulbs out the right side. fixture does have acrylic shield built in. wouldnt put that close without one though
