You can try to scrape some off the rock so that it gets distributed a bit more around the tank. Also, have you checked your calcium levels?

I'd call you lucky, but - you can get in there with a brush and scrub some of the rock with the coralline. That will help it spread. Keep your water params in check, give it some good flow and before you know it, you'll be cursing yourself.

I would also check your Mag levels, you dont have to scrape the rock, get the levels right and it will cover everything on its own.

I have a problem where corraline grows all over my glass, but only settles in very small spots on the rock.

especially read article on magnesium as it relates directly to your coralline growth

you can use any of a wide variety of products.
Personally, I would choose something else.

Get some reliable test kits.
I would recommend a liquid two part (Ca and alk) for your 55. Purchase a separate Mg supplement so you can adjust it independently. Run S.G. at 1.025-1.026 and slowly raise levels of Ca, alk and Mg to optimal.

I had the same issue with my 55, i bought a Calc test and found it was around 350.

Bought some of this stuff , as i don't have a reactor

http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...95&pcatid=4695

and dripped it slowly with a doser over about 48hrs, where by it measured 430. Within a couple of weeks i had coraline all over the back of the tank.

Maybe not the ideal way of doing it, but it seemed to work

Your calcium and mag are fine.

Sometimes coralline just won't grow lol. I've got a tank full of corals and happy fish for almost a full year, and I get hardly any coralline at all on my glass.....Which I'm thankful for lol.

It does grow on the rock though for me.
