Low Calcium issues... Mg and Alk are fine
I'm trying to figure out what to do and am kinda stumped. I can't seem to find any good lamence terms articles.
My calcium is 320ppm Mg is 1500 ppm Alk is 2.8 meq/l any ideas what I can do to raise the calcium to a good level. I guess the alkalinity has some room to be raised to. Thanks in advance |

Yes, your alk is on the low end and could be raised a little bit.
What are your stumped with? Are you having trouble raising your Ca? With Mg at the level you have, you shouldn't have any trouble maintaining the proper Ca levels. You can use any of the Ca supplements (I use Kent's Liquid Calcium) to raise it to the appropriate level (I shoot for 420), then dose regularly after that to keep it at that level. |

This is far cheaper then any off the shelf calcium supplement.
http://www.bulkreefsupply.com/Calciu...1_2/index.html Mix it into some RO water and dose as needed.

I am having trouble raising the calcium. I did just pick up some kent turbo calcium, and I think that will do the trick, as the two-parts are not. Your supposed to dose it gradually right? I always forget about bulkreefsupply. I'm gonna go with them next. |

Turbo Calcium will work. Use the calculator on this page http://reef.diesyst.com/flashcalc/flashcalc.html to figure out how much of it you need to get your calcium up to your desired level. Select "Kent TurboCalcium" from the pull-down.
Once your calcium is at your desired level, you're going to have to keep adding some kind of calcium supplement to keep up with the calcium demand of your tank. It's not cost-effective to do this using TurboCalcium or any of the similar products. I use a 2-part solution from Bulk Reef Supply. Others use B-Ionic's 2-part solution. There's also kalkwasser and calcium reactors. It's really up to you. |
