Seaclone maybe not so bad
I was running a Seaclone skimmer on my 29g tank and decided it really wasn't doing much so I took it off about a year ago. Recently I have had a hair algae outbreak. Found out my light timer got messed up and were running for 13 hours a day. I fixed that and figured I would give the Seaclone another try. I put it back in my tank without a prefilter foam on it. I am getting some pretty good dark green skim mate out of it. I noticed today my tank is alot less green!

Any skimmer is better than no skimmer. I came to hate the SeaClone I had when first getting into the hobby, but with some mods, you can make it a little better. I did the airstone mod and the bioball mod, and together I saw increased performance - but still, there are much better skimmers available.
What size is your SC? They are grossly overrated gallon-wise IME. Running it on a nano helps your cause though. |

I received a free skimmer recently. I built it a new venturi and mesh modded the impeller. The skimmer actually works pretty good now. If the company would just use a proper venturi to begin with, the skimmer wouldn't have gotten such a bad rep. I agree there are better skimmers overall out there.
