pink patches

hey guys, my nano is finally growing this nice pink patches on the back of the tank and the LR. im pretty sure its a good thing, but what is it?
the patches are kinda hard and powdery when you scratch them.

Coraline algae. It is a good thing, but you will need to scrap it from the glass from time to time.

It also comes in grey and purple.

i only let it grow on the back and on the rocks. is there anything you can do to grow it faster? i just have the stock JBJ nano lights.

Good lighting and good calcium levels is all it needs. There is really only so much one can do to rush things in this hobby. Just give it time and keep up on your water changes.

just checked online. ever try any of the coraline starter kits? id like to get some different colors in there.

Nope, never have. I have fiji liverock and it seems to have come with red, pink, grey, and purple. I don't know if there are any differences in prefered lighting for the different colors, but it's possible.

I have heard that you can use an unused toothbrush and brush it a little and this will release spores.

set your alk, cal, and mg as follows: alk 8.3-9.3, cal 420, mg 1300, with any in the tank and you will be scraping quite often.
