Need help Brown algae

Hello.
I'm a new to this hobby, I have a 150 gallon tank that has been setup for 3 months, I used my old tanks live rock and bio balls,
so the tank cycled fast. I used my old coralife pc light, with old bulbs. Recentley I purchased 72" mh 3x250 8t5s. I have had lights on for 2 days now, about 6 hours per day. Its getting worse, water checks out great. I bought about 25 snails today to see if that will help. Any other ideas out there?

Best thing to do is wait it out. It will starve itself and then it will be gone. If you water parameters are fine then let it go. Mine lasted about 2 weeks and then dissapeared... My fish was fine throughout the whole process and I had zero cleaners.

Are you still using the old lights? Your lights may be getting too old and shifted. If that is the case than that color variation may as well be helping along that algae. If your lights are fine than it's just part of the algae cycle. Another reason for brown algae is over feeding. Try to feed only what will be eaten in a five minute period.

I dont know what your filtration setup is like but i use colerpula in my refugium and it seems to pull a large amount of excess nutrients from the water. Between that and my skimmer my algae problems have become almost non existent. If you do use it be sure that your refugium light stays on 24/7 as it will go sexual and get into your display!
