I have a 400 watt Radium and a Lumatek ballast.

Here's the deal: I actually had my Lumatek burn up last night, but not to worry, these things happen sometimes and Lumatek backs their ballast with a 5 year warranty!!! Finless was kind enough to loan me one of his M135 ballast to use while I send mine back for a replacement. The M135 ballast is a cap and coil magnetic ballast that is reccomended by Radium (400watt) to run their bulb. I hooked the M135 up to my Radium about 1 hour ago and can with out a doubt tell a huge difference in output! The Lumatek was MUCH Brighter and had a better overall appereance.

So as a general statement, I would say the Lumatek is driving the Radium 400 watt bulb at a much higher output than the reccomended M135. I will be looking foward to getting my ballast replaced and back on my tank!

BTW dont let my misfortune with the Lumatek sway anyone against their ballast's, sometimes you do get a bad apple!

The warranty was a big factor when i bought Lumateks. Im glad i did, my tank has looked sweet ever since. i only have 250 watters though and reeflux 12k's. Im very happy.
