UV Sterilizer keeps tripping my GFCI

I am using a Gamma UV 25 watt sterilizer, it was fine for a while bt then it tripped my GFCI and caused my whole tank to power off, thankfully i was home when it happend. I narrowed it down to the UV Sterilizer , and it continues to trip even a dedicated separate GFCI outlet. Has anyone had a similar issue that could advise me on this?

Sounds like a fault in the unit.

Somewhere it may have a path to ground and the GFCI is sensing it.

the plug on the end of the bulb gets hard and cracks over time. it is probably shorting out.
