what kind of corals for T5 lighting?

I just upgraded my previous PC fixture to a T5 fixture. i had a 130w fixture to a 234w. my tank size is about 56g and the dimensions are 30 lenght x 24 height x 12 width.

You should be good for most corals save some high light loving SPS, some anemones and clams, although they would likely be fine higher up.

There is a large range of quality in T5 lighting, so I'm afraid it's really not enough to say you have 234w of T5. What brand and model do you have? How many bulbs? What length are the bulbs? Are there individual reflectors for each bulb or just a single reflector for all the bulbs?

Current Tank Info: I have a reef screen saver on my phone, does that count?

it has 3 actinic bulbs and 3 white bulbs with individual reflectors. it is a nova pro. what kind of corals can i keep under this kind of lighting? my tank is a 56g i believe with the dimensions of 30" lenght x 24" height x 12" deep. the T5 fixture itself is 36 inches wide. i did not measure the light bulbs yet.

good--you will find the debate over halides vs t5's split 50-50 on this site. There are beautiful sps tanks with t5's as there are with halides.

With that lighting, you can keep just about whatever you want. I have the Tek5, 6 bulb fixture over my 75 and am keeping very high light demanding SPS, including several Acropora sp. I also have 2 T. crocea clams that are about mid-tank and a T. maxima a little lower. Way down at the bottom, I have a Purple Sebae anemone. Everything is getting PLENTY of light!!

6 T5HO bulbs with quality reflectors are comparable to 250W MH lighting, down to about 24" of depth. You aren't limiting yourself at all...AND you're avoiding the heat issues associated with MH lighting.

The thing is, it has stock bulbs so i don't know if you can compare MH to this. any suggestions on new bulbs or are the stocks good enough?

Go to Reefgeek.com. Pretty much all of their bulbs are good quality. I generally get either ATI, Geissman or UVL. As stated, the Nova Extreme Pro seems to be a pretty good unit. The reflectors aren't the same quality as Tek, Icecap, ATI, etc., but I agree that you should be able to keep just about anything you want under that fixture.
