When to add stuff?
OK I am adding water to my new 90g. I have 100lbs of base rock and 90lbs of sand. I want to add some of the live rock and sand from my 55g to it. When should I add my stuff, not fish and corals just rock/sand? Now, later after cycle or when?

Now you shouldnt have a much of a cycle if any because its from your pre existing tank. There will be minimal die off from your transport. Get that thing started. I actually started my tank immediately LR and water 1st then within a couple days I added my fish and some coral(slowly) within 2 weeks. Some people would say I was dumb for doing this but if your tank has already cured the LR you really should be fine just make so to be careful when adding. My tank has been up for 8 months now and have seen some nice growth out of my sps so you should be more then fine.

NO, I am using dead base rock and new sand. I do plan to add some of my good stuff, but that is my question. When should I add the good rock and sand to seed the dead stuff? Now, after cycle or?

If whats currently in your tank is only dead rock and new sand you have nothing in there to cycle your tank. You should add the rock and sand from your existing tank to get it going. Try to keep it moist during transfer, so u minimize die off.

Yes, add it now to seed the tank. Later will have little to no effect once the tank is colonized with bacteria. Add something for an ammonia source to feed the nitrification cycle. A few bits of frozen food, a piece of shrimp, a few drops of ammonia etc.
