Phyto plankton and rotifers
I started my culture for phyto plankton and rotifers for a mixed reef tank and so far so good with the cultures over the last 2 month. My question relates to when to feed the display tank. For rotifers I am using a 2 quart container and harvesting half of it every week with a micron siene, should I use all of it at one time ? In the evening or day time ? Also if I want to split it up , can I refigerate the rotifer and not loose the nutritional value or should I add a few drop of selcon food booster to the rotifer and a little tank water and not refrigerate and use over the entire week? .For the phyto plankton , I am refrigerating and adding about 1 quart to my tank a little every day, so far no issues with nitrates or algie blooms, is this what others are doing as well ?

Any feedback, anyone using their own phyto plankton and rotifer to feed their display tank?

What are you using for fertilizer for your Phyto? I use Miracle Grow - about 1.5 ml/gallon dose. I let the culture get quite dense over a week. For my 200 gal setup I dose about 4 quarts a week of green water. I know the fertilizer has some phosphates and nitrogen in it and it concerns me a bit about elevating the phosphate levels in my DT. So, I'm getting a filter system to separate the phyto from the culture water.
I've cultured rotifers and I guess that it wouldn't hurt to add as much as you can culture to the DT. I dose these things for feeding the large no. of SPS corals I have and to raise the population of pods in my tank .
