how long can i leave an ro membrane out of water?

I'm disinfecting my rodi system tonight while i have it apart to swap filters and I'm wondering what the maximum time I could leave the membrane out of water would be. If it's better to just drop it in a bucket of water made beforehand I can do that too. thanks.

I dont think it matters. They come dry. But if your worried about it drop it in a bucket of RO water.

for whatever reason i always thought that once you got the membrane wet it had to stay that way. i think i'll just drop it in some rodi water to be on the safe side.

this is from SpectraPures web site:
"IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Purchase an RO membrane when needed. If you would like to keep one on hand, you can store it in the refrigerator
for up to 1 year. (Keep in its sealed, original packaging). If the membrane dries out, it will not produce water.) "
