frogspawn hardening

My frogspawn that has been thriving for a long time now is turning hard from the where its attached. It's hard to explain, but the part before the frogspawn heads, its mushy. It all used to be mushy but i just realized that it began to harden.. Is this normal, bad, good?

Thanks

It's normal. It leaves behind the skeleton when it grows.
