I haven't used one myself but I haven't seen anyone complain about them. Some like to have separate devices for each function and some like multifunction devices. I guess the down side to multifuction is when it breaks then multiple fucntions are down. I myself use multifunction devices like the aquacontroller which has ph, orp, temp, conductivity, etc

Hanna meters have a good reputation so it should be fine. A TDS meter has far more simple circuitry that a pH meter but things like the power source, amplifier circuits and display are redundant and use the same circuit wiring. Having a combo meter eliminates the need for circuit duplication and makes the combo a cheaper buy without reducing functionality.
